arlene (no shame in my game) w., Feb 3, 2009, 6:53PM ESTHi Getta! That is one of the few movies that I don't mind watching again.

Andrea Grenadier, Feb 3, 2009, 2:51PM ESTWell, they're pretty hilarious! Very much like 1950s musicals here, but those really are wonderful.
Interesting about "The Namesake." The book started off promisingly enough, but went downhill very quickly. It was probably one of the worst books I've read in years, and should have been a short story, instead. But I really liked the movie! A very rare case where the movie was actually better than the book. -
Andrea Grenadier, Feb 2, 2009, 4:08PM ESTGeeta, that's so GREAT about your novel! You should be so proud of yourself for getting that far.
I loved "Slumdog Millionaire"! So different from the more cinematic films, like "Water," and definitely a change from the Bollywood style, although the dance scene at the end was a cute take-off. Usually I can't stand Danny Boyle's films, since he completely lacks subtlety, but he did a great job with this one. : - ) -
Andrea Grenadier, Feb 2, 2009, 3:04PM ESTBut the point is, you were making value judgments about my own passions, which I would never do with anyone. Contemporary film can be good, if a bit soulless, depending on the filmmaker. I love the Indian, French, and other foreign films I've seen in the past few years, but American films? Yuk! You tend to forget them as soon as you've seen them. Of course, there can be no contemporary anything without the classics' shoulders to stand on.
Geeta, whatever happened to your novel?! That was my favorite one. Is it published? -

Andrea Grenadier, Jan 31, 2009, 8:11AM ESTWell, I've never really cared if people don't understand the greatest beauty in life; that's really their loss. It certainly makes for a smaller group of people to talk to, but not knowing the classics would certainly put a serious dent in people's writing attempts, if they're not well-educated in the classics or the great literature. What references would someone use to push their work light-years ahead in the mind fo a reader?

Erica Hidvegi, Jun 21, 2008, 4:10PM EDTHello Geeta,
I understand you do not believe in angels or demons, according to a post about Nyota Star and the homeless 'angels' she felt she was surrounded by. I ask you why don't you believe? What about the concept seems false ?
curious to know . . .

Nyota *Star*, Jun 5, 2008, 8:47PM EDTHELLOOOOOO!
I'm not bragging. . .Well, yes I am. I believe I have the most eclectic Group--outofourshells--and People connections than any grouping on Gather.
It has been my pleasure to find and invite new people to mingle with those who have been with me for a while. It is my wish for you to use these groupings to your advantage. If you have a group of your own, please think of outofourshells as a second home. If you belong to other groups, please think of outofourshells when you publish. Anyone is welcome to join as long as they agree with the Group's
description--which is mainly to show respect and to remember arguing is not the same as fighting. It is more akin to debating.
I have tried to attract as diverse a population as possible. I want our group and connections to to educate--as well as--learn from each other.
Thank you for your joining up and I look forward to your offerings!
Sincerely,
Nyota
P.S. I am sending this article to all of the Groups with which I am connected. I don't want to miss anyone ([;p)] !
